Though independent of each other, the utilitarian ethos that’s a hallmark in the military has led to the development of dozens of fashion staples. A classic military-inspired accessory that we’ve all come to know and love is the dive watch. One brand that epitomizes dive watchmaking excellence is Squale, whose dive watches were so successful that they ended up becoming the go-to timepiece of the State Police Diving Unit in Italy. The family-owned Swiss watchmaker has made a stellar reputation for itself making premiere dive watches for decades, and now, they aim to bolster their offerings with an ultra-limited release of the Tribute Watch.
The Limited Edition Tribute Watch celebrates the longstanding relationship that Squale shares with the Italian State Police Diving Unit. The watch’s dial and stainless steel case were handcrafted and hand-assembled the old-fashioned way using old-school tools, adding to the uniqueness of the piece. Design-wise, the Limited Edition Tribute features a gorgeous matte black dial with indices that are hand-painted with Super-LumiNova. On the case back, wearers will find an etching of the watch’s own edition number from 1 to 30. The Squale Limited Edition Tribute watch is powered by an automatic Sellita SW 200-1 movement and comes on a Tropic-style rubber strap. It sports a very retro box-shaped acrylic crystal and boasts a water-resistance rating of 200m. Furthermore, the Limited Edition Tribute watch comes with a rugged Galeazzi knife that features a 5.7″ polished AISI 420 steel blade, a handle with 3D-printed black G10 scales, and a black rubber sheath.
These two beautiful pieces come packaged in a handmade collector’s box made of Durmast Oak that was sourced from Tuscan wine barrels from the early 1900s. True to its name, the Tribute watch is incredibly limited, with only 30 pieces being produced. Assuming you’re lucky enough to track one down, the Squale Limited Edition Tribute watch retails for $2,905 and can be purchased on Squale’s website.
