Whether for camping or just prepping up firewood for the winter, most folks can get by with a pretty basic hatchet or wood-cutting axe. The military and law enforcement, however, need tactical chopping tools that are a little more robust and multi-functional. And now they’ve got an impressive new option in Spyderco’s Warrior Hawk.

Designed by Laci Szabo, a hand-to-hand combat specialist, this tomahawk was created both as a utilitarian cutting tool and as a tactical advantage when it comes to breaching, piercing, and close combat situations. The full-tang Warrior Hawk is built from TiCN-coated solid D2 tool steel and mated to 3D-machined G10 handle scales for an ergonomic and sturdy grip. While the head features dual zero-ground edges perfect for hacking and chopping, the opposite side has a multi-purpose spike ideal for disabling vehicles via tire or fuel tank puncturing, and the base of the handle also features a pry bar great for forcing doors open on-the-fly. Along with a custom-molded, snap-fit Boltaron sheath, this tactical axe is available now for $480.

Purchase: $480
