This Might Be The Ultimate Quick-Access Manual EDC Knife

Spyderco, with their catalog of offerings numbering in the thousands, knows a thing or to about building a solid everyday carry knife. So does Emerson — a brand that actually sent their knives into space with NASA’s astronauts. Unsurprisingly, when these two knife-making giants collided, it resulted in something doubly special — the Dragonfly 2 Emerson Opener.

Based on Spyderco’s already-impressive Dragonfly 2 Lightweight, this variant features much of what made the original excellent. That includes a stout 2.28″ VG-10 steel blade (with the brand’s iconic oversized thumb hole for easy ambidextrous manual deployment), fiberglass-reinforced nylon handle scales, and a sturdy and reliable back lock. But what differentiates this particular manual-opening knife is the handy addition of Emerson’s signature integral hook, designed to automatically deploy the blade as you remove it from your pocket. It also has the added bonus of functioning as a bottle opener in a pinch (though that’s not the primary intended use) — allowing the user to crack open a brew or two whether the knife is deployed or closed. This quick-access manual EDC knife is available soon for $105.
