Spira Magnetic iPhone Charger And Clock

Like an unemployed Tropicana truck driver, your phone needs juice. We all do. But the question is, will you just plug in the charger, or use the whole process as an opportunity for pizazz?

If it’s the latter, let’s examine Spira, an interactive frame, charger and dock. Thanks to a specially designed case and a wall-mounted base station, your phone juices up via induction charging while being magnetized by the frame. As your phone delivers a neat little animation to indicate where you’re at in the charging process, you can then rotate it to turn it into a digital clock of sorts, as it blends in with the design on the frame. Spira appears to be a one-time project by some students at the University of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts (ÉCAL), but with an eye for design like this, we like their chances at creating more cool stuff in the future.
