Steve Carell Finally Returns To TV In Netflix’s ‘Space Force’ Comedy Series

Netflix has just given us our first look at a new deadpan-style comedy series that reunites two of the primary forces behind the smash-hit sitcom The Office: actor Steve Carell and producer extraordinaire Greg Daniels. This one is a bit different, however, as it swaps the everyday setting of the pair’s first collaboration for something a bit more astronomical.

Called Space Force, the show follows Steve Carell’s character, Mark R. Naird, a high-ranking U.S. Air Force General that’s tasked with heading up the government’s newest service branch in an effort for the country to obtain what’s referred to in the trailer as: “complete space dominance.” With Daniels reprising his role as a writer, the new series sees Carell joined by an ensemble cast of heavy hitters from the comedy world, including John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow, Fred Willard, Noah Emmerich, Jane Lynch, Parks and Recreation’s Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers of Booksmart fame, Jimmy O. Yang from HBO’s Silicon Valley, and stand-up comedian Chris Gethard — just to name a few. Thus far, Netflix has produced a total of ten half-hour episodes of Space Force, with a release date slated for May 29, 2020.
