Point and shoot cameras have really started to become obsolete in recent years thanks to advancements in the world of smartphone cameras. Every year both Android and iOS powered devices continue to outdo themselves with high powered cameras attached right to user’s smartphones.

Sony is looking to really shake things up this week as they are set to unveil their Sony “Smart Shot” smartphone attachment clip-on lenses. Utilizing the downloadable Sony PlayMemories App, these attachment lenses will allow both iOS and Android smartphone cameras to go far beyond their standard shooting capabilities. There are 2 different lenses including the 18 megapixel DSC-QX10, which comes equipped with a f/3.3-5.9 lens, and the 20.2 megapixel DSC-QX-100, which comes equipped with a f/1.8-4.9 lens. Both lenses connect wirelessly using either WiFi or NFC, and will offer up full image stabilization, focus, zoom, control of exposure and white balance, hi-res HD recording, and a whole lot more. At this point, the specs are not 100 percent confirmed by Sony, but expect the official announcement to come later this week.
