Sony Finally Unveils The Groundbreaking Next-Gen PS5 Gaming Console

Gamers rejoice! Sony has finally unveiled its long-awaited and all-too-secret next-gen PlayStation 5 home video game console. And the official product is even better than we (and numerous concept artists) ever imagined. Truly, this marks a sea change in the future of video gaming — which is furthered by its spectacular array of features, specs, games, and accessories.

The big unveiling event actually started with a look at some of the console’s upcoming games in all their hi-res glory — including returning classics with new entries such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a platformer in the Little Big Planet world called Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a new tense and horrifying Resident Evil game called Village, and the long-awaited follow-up to Horizon: Zero Dawn called Horizon: Forbidden West. They also showcased a bevy of new properties like the action-packed Project Athia, the puzzling and futuristic Stray, a PlayStation Exclusive horror-survival sci-fi title called Returnal, a vibrant Twisted Metal-style racer titled Destruction Allstars, and many, many more.

Following that, we got our first real look at the marvelous new console. Many of the promised features were confirmed once again — including 4K Blu-Ray capabilities, an ultra-high-speed SSD, ray tracing, 3D audio, a custom GPU, and that incredible new haptic controller. But what hadn’t yet been unveiled — namely the form and design of the console itself — was finally shown alongside a brand-new ecosystem of accessories that includes a TV-style remote, controller charging base station, ‘Pulse 3D’ wireless headset, and an HD camera array.

Furthermore, it was also revealed that there will be two separate versions of the sleek, curvy, futuristic console at launch — one which accepts physical disks and another that is digital-only. And if that pesky UK leak is to be believed, there will be a third 2TB option on the way. All told, the console(s), upcoming games, and the new suite of accessories together mark a new horizon in gaming that’s even more promising than we once thought. Keep an eye out for further details on a concrete release date and pricing soon.
