Sony Confirms A Haptic 4K PS5 Console For A 2020 Holiday Release

Back in August, the folks at LetsGoDigital announced that they had gotten their hands on patent info for a then-unknown Sony device. The company then put together 3D renders of what they believed to be the upcoming PlayStation 5 console. Well, as it turns out, they might have been right on the money, because Sony just confirmed a PS5 release date for winter of 2020 and a number of the rumored features.

As you can see from the images, this is a console unlike any that we’ve seen before. And while much is still yet to be confirmed, there are a few tidbits of information that we now know for certain. For starters, the device comes with a built-in 4K Blu-ray player and will have the ability to play new 100GB discs. It’s also said to come with game customization options — meaning you can download only the parts of games you’re interested in, be that campaigns, multiplayer, or DLCs. Even the controllers are getting overhauled with longer battery life than their DualShock 4 counterparts, better haptic feedback, and “adaptive triggers” for more responsive playing. Needless to say, we’ll be eagerly awaiting the holiday release next year.
