Sonos is one of the world’s premier audio brands, but there was a glaring hole in their lineup due to the lack of a truly portable speaker. Well, that hole has now been filled by the new Sonos Roam portable smart speaker, and it looks like it was well worth the delay.
The Sonos Roam is tiny, measuring 6.61 x 2.44 x 2.36 inches and weighing in at under a pound. But despite its small stature, the Roam is bursting with features. The speaker boasts Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, with built-in voice control support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple’s Siri. The Apple integration goes even further, with Apple AirPlay 2 integration. Charging is accomplished wirelessly or via a USB-C port, and the battery offers 10 hours of playtime. It’s also drop-resistant, dustproof, and has an IP67 waterproof rating. And since this is a Sonos speaker, you can also expect great sound with two precisely-engineered Class-H digital amplifiers and Trueplay tuning technology that automatically adjusts your listening experience based on your surroundings. The Sonos Roam is set to be released in April, but you can preorder one now for $169.
