SOG Terminus XR Folding Knife
In the world of everyday carry, it isn’t often that big new developments are unveiled — so we tend to take notice when they are. That’s doubly true if the release is from a notable brand. And that’s exactly what just happened with SOG’s Terminus XR folding knife.
The first release to feature their new proprietary XR locking mechanism, SOG is gunning for the EDC crowd with this folding blade. Let’s start with the raw specs: it’s got a 2.9-inch CTS BDZ1 steel drop point blade, G10 and carbon fiber handle, reversible deep pocket carry clip, and a total length of 7.21 inches. SOG is also boasting that it offers up three different ways to open it, including a “kick assist” flipper, manual thumb stud, and XR flip release. As for the lock, it operates via a transverse slider bar that moves back and forth to lock the blade. Seemingly simple, this leads to a number of benefits, including great locking strength and stability, ambidexterity, and longevity due to self-adjustment over time — and that’s a pretty big deal if you ask us. At $80 a piece, this knife is simple and elegant with enough of a tactical edge to be favored across the EDC world.
