When the going gets tough and the weather takes a turn for the worst, you’ll be thankful you have the Nube Stratos Hammock Shelter to keep you elevated and dry at the campsite. It’s a risk we’re always willing to take, depending on the weather to hold off until the weekend is over. However, as we’ve all experienced, that isn’t always the case. And this new offering from Sierra Madre Research hopes to mitigate such weather-driven inconveniences.
In short, the Nube Stratos is a highly modular hammock shelter that offers 360° protection from rain, wind, and insects. The setup also elevates the shelter off the ground, can fit up to two hammocks along with up to 100lbs of extra gear that can be stored in the shelter’s Gear Stash. It’s composed of two layers, the 15D Nylon Ripstop StratosFly that protect against rain, wind, and sun, and the StratosShield which protects against insects and dirty gear. It’s built from a 15D Quad-layered Lockstitch no-see-um mesh and host several other convenient features such as T-Locks for a wide viewing window, S-Curve dual sided doors, Pocket and Line locks for handy storage of guy-out lines and a set of interior Sky Hooks for hanging personal items. So if you’re interested in camping without worry, be sure to check out their Kickstarter page. The Nube Stratos is slated to retail at $308. [Purchase]
