Side Project Skateboards
Don’t be fooled by the numerical names of the skateboards by Side Project Skateboards. Although they feature humdrum monikers like No. 26 and No. 27, their simple titles truly belie the artistry that’s involved with their production.
Each vintage-inspired board is handmade Houston, Texas, with found and recovered hardwoods, so that means no two decks are alike. With plenty of racing stripes, the designs transport you back to the 60s, only these are made with superior care and materials. The aforementioned No. 26, for example, “contrasts the warm values of Cherry and Australian Lacewood with stark accent strips of Recovered Maple.” Factor in rounded edges, hand sanded wheel wells, and a marine grade varnish, and you’ve got yourself a showoff ride for the boardwalk this summer.
