With what is quite possibly the most important election in modern US history rapidly approaching, voting is beyond important this year. In a bid to raise awareness and encourage Americans to vote, Shinola has partnered with I am a voter®—an organization that provides information about voting and lets visitors register to vote, check their registration status, or request mail-in ballots–to deliver a limited edition Detrola watch to be released today, on National Voter Registration Day.
Touted as an upgraded version of the “I Voted” sticker, the watch is powered by an American-built Argonite 705 quartz movement that’s water-resistant to 165’. Set in a 43mm red TR90 resin case, the dial is sandblasted in a bright blue and complemented via a polished stainless steel crown and hardware and white Arabic numerals and a matching blue quick-release silicone strap. Sold in a special commemorative gift box, the watch also has a case-back that sports a laser-etched serial number. Available now, the Shinola x I Am A Voter Detrola is priced at $395. Artist, Alexander John is also making 30 one-of-a-kind nylon straps to be paired with this special edition Detrola which will be priced at $450, though $100 of each of the 30 units is going to charity.
