Shinola is always searching for inspiration in its surroundings. The Detroit-based brand’s latest model, known as the Ice Monster Automatic 43mm Dive, taps the illustrious lineage of Michigan’s frozen past, citing the cyclical nature of preservation, destruction, and rebirth as its driving force.
To pay homage to the region’s ice-borne history, the Monster dive watch arrives as a lightweight titanium alloy rendition of its predecessor. At its frozen core, the brand’s highly-accurate SW200-1 Automatic Movement makes its debut, complementing the watch’s 38-hour power reserve and snow-inspired white-on-white enamel dial, and helping it to blend into the bleak, powdery landscape. Of course, all of this is housed in a tasteful brushed titanium case and secured behind a gunmetal aluminum bezel. To elaborate on its winterized demeanor, each example has been designed to meet or exceed ISO 6425 dive watch standards, resulting in a 1,000ft water resistance, overall. Head to Shinola’s website to pick up a model of your own for $1,675.
