Shimano CM-1000 Sport Camera
GoPro may have opened the doors for action cameras, but these days, it’s a pool of serious competition. Shimano plans to add their offering to the mix this summer with the release of the Shimano CM-1000 Sport Camera.
So you might be thinking, “Why would we want another action camera?” Well it’s simple really. The competition from these manufacturers is what keeps the good stuff rolling in, and boy does this Shimano deliver the good stuff. Equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, a 16MP backlit CMOS sensor capable of shooting 1080 HD movies and stills, multiple lens modes, and weighing in at just 86 grams (yes that’s about 50 grams less than GoPro Hero 3+ ) it’s already a pretty serious competitor – but wait, there’s more. Seeing that many of us use our action cameras for surfing and water based sports, it’s great to know that the Shimano can be submerged in up to 30 feet of water. That’s right, with absolutely no case. You can also wirelessly connect the POV cam with your heart rate monitors and other training devices thanks to the ANT+ capabilities. Expect this thing to be released in May of this year, with a retail price of $299. [Purchase]
