As super, mega, and gigayachts have become bigger, more luxurious. and more opulent over the last few years, a trend has emerged in which vessels are bestowed with ever-larger storage bays for accommodating tender boats, jet skis, helicopters, submersibles, and all-terrain vehicles. Rather than incorporating onboard garages and tender-bays into yachts themselves, elite shipbuilder ShadowCat is allowing yacht owners to schlep an unparalleled amount of toys on their journeys using one of the company’s catamaran support vessels.
Founded in 2018, ShadowCat builds bespoke ships that boast a unique, cleverly designed hull that offers up to 40% more cargo space than a traditional monohull catamaran and features an impressive 6.8’ (2.1m) draft that enables it to access shallow beaches and shorelines. Each vessel is custom, made to order, and is designed to house the owner’s specific array of vehicles and toys, including multiple crane systems, garages, helipads, and hangers. On top of serving as the ultimate floating toy hauler, ShadowCat’s catamarans can also act as security vessels complete with specially-trained staff and mil-spec comm systems. The boats can even deploy a protective dome that encompasses the entire ship, creating what the company calls a “security umbrella.” To see more of ShadowCat’s yacht support ships, you can check out the company’s website linked below.
