Back in 2019, UK-based Seven Seas Yachts debuted the Hermes Speedster, a retro-styled runabout boat that took direct influence from Porsche’s classic 356 convertible. With its beautiful analog instrumentation, handcrafted wooden interior, and sweeping humpbacked hull, it made for quite the seaworthy interpretation of the German automotive icon.
With the launch of its new Speedster E, Seven Seas has added a fully-electric option to its existing Hermes offerings. It’s powered by a 100kW electric motor and a 30kWh battery pack, meaning that in addition to being completely silent, it’s also 100% emission-free. And even despite its eco-friendly powerplant, the Speedster E is still perfectly capable of reaching 36mph flat-out. However, should you be able to keep your speed in check at a leisurely 6mph, Seven Seas claims it’ll be good out on the water for up to nine hours. As with the original, inside, you’ll find plenty of Porsche influences, such as a wooden steering wheel, some chrome-ringed gauges, and a pair of aft-mounted dual air intakes. But the best part is easily the fold-down cloth top, a vintage-inspired item that goes from flat to deployed in a matter of seconds. You can buy the Hermes Speedster E starting at $269,000.
