Seascape Retreat in New Zealand

New Zealand is well-known among frequent travelers as having some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. That was likely the reason behind Patterson Associates Architects‘ Seascape Retreat design, a home set on the coast of the country’s South Pacific cove.

This beachside cottage seamlessly incorporates its surrounding landscape into its design. For example, it uses rocks found on the coast as its walls, it has an open wooden deck that overlooks the beach, and the roof has grass that would serve as camouflage to those looking from above. It’s built using all local materials. But its design is modern, and it all comes together to create a gorgeous abode. Virtually everywhere you stand, you’re given gorgeous views of the beach. In fact, you’ll even find a beautiful view right from the bathtub.
