The world of interior design is a vast and fascinating space. Throughout the entire industry, you’ll find pieces of furniture that are so creative and innovative that they become functional art. Given the scope and breadth of creative fortitude many interior designers possess, making your mark in this industry can be a herculean undertaking. One such designer who managed to pull off such a task, however, is Sara Hayat. While Sara and her family have made many famous pieces, it could be argued that her latest release is her most creative yet.

When people put together furniture they’ve purchased, it’s often done so begrudgingly. Sure, you get an overall feeling of satisfaction once you complete your task, but the job itself isn’t usually the fun part. For Sara Hayat’s Tetris Couch, however, the construction is one of the best parts of experiencing this sofa. As its name suggests, the Tetris is inspired by the 1984 mega-hit videogame of the same name. However, rather than just making a couch that looks cubic, Sara designed a fully modular couch that consists of different pieces that can be rearranged to your heart’s content.

The thought behind the Tetris came from Sara wanting her kids to have a piece of furniture they could have fun playing with, building, and then using as a couch. Not only is each piece big and comfortable enough to function on its own, but they are also made of different fabrics like leather, velvet, and suede. Much like the game, each piece has its own unique color, which provides a more custom aesthetic once the couch is put together.

Each section of this retro-inspired couch is hand-made and comes in an array of different colors. Sara Hayat has yet to release pricing information on the Tetris Couch, but you can inquire about its cost on the designer’s website.
