Building on the success of the company’s earlier Mountain Trainer GORE-TEX boot, European outdoor gear and garment outfits Salewa has now introduced a revised and upgraded version of the boot for 2020. Dubbed the “Mountain Trainer 2 Winter GTX,” the new model boasts a host of updates that together make it markedly more rugged, capable, and comfortable.
Starting at the top, these ruggedized winter boots feature suede uppers finished with a water-repellent treatment and complemented via genuine wool from AlpineWool. Inside, the Winter 2 GTX gets a Kevlar 3F heel support system, a dual-compartment GORE-TEX Performance Comfort membrane, and a form-fitting insole comprised of varying density layers of foamed polyurethane that offers stellar heat retention and breathability. The boots also feature Arctic Grip Technology, with the soles consisting of Vibram’s cutting-edge Icetrek II outsole. And the new Salewa boot isn’t just capable and robust, but it’s also incredibly fashion-forward with a modern and unique design decorated with various textured elements and accent stitching and colors. Weighing just 2.75lbs, the ISPO award-winning Mountain Trainer 2 Winter GTX is slated to go on sale in September of 2020.
