Salewa Updates Its Dropline Trail Runner With An Ankle-Fortifying GTX Version

With lightweight yet rugged construction and the ability to provide ample protection, grip, and support, Salewa’s Droline is an incredibly popular shoe in the trail running space. And after released an upgraded GORE-TEX-spec Dropline, the outdoor brand has now revealed the next addition in this lineup with a Dropline Mid.

This new version maintains its predecessor’s Pomoca Dropline EVA outsoles, Performance EVA midsole, and breathable mesh lining, though the original stretchable air mesh uppers now sport an Exa Shell Over injected 3D cage, TPU-film, and a thermoformed high-rebound material heel collar. The Dropline Mid also gains an anatomic 3D ankle support and protection that’s been implemented into Salewa’s existing 3F system, and the Tech Approach laces now extend higher up the arch of the foot. The new ankle-fortifying additions are accomplished without gaining any added weight, with the Mid version tipping the scales at only four grams more than the original Dropline at 370 grams versus the low-top’s 366. Slated for a release in the near future, the Salewa Dropline Mid Speed Hiking Shoe will be priced at $180.
