The RUX Adaptable Bag-Box Hybrid Puts A Versatile Spin On Off-Grid Storage

Off-grid storage has traditionally involved a lot of compromises, with users having to strike a balance between vessels with robust protection, that can also easily be carried or stored. Canadian startup, RUX, is aiming to change this, delivering what the Squamish-based company is calling the first all-in-one, weatherproof, shapeshifting cargo box.

Made from a rugged TPU-coated 840D nylon and designed entirely in CAD, the concept of the RUX is to combine the best, and most trail-ready aspects of hard storage cases and backpacks. The RUX is equipped with modular utility rails and a rim, nylon webbing for mounting or carrying, transparent windows for viewing the RUX’s internal contents, removable side handle straps and a rainproof compressed EVA foam lid. Measuring 15.7” x 19.5” x 13.8” and weighing under 4.5lbs when empty, the RUX affords a cool 70L of storage space, and is available with optional compartments, dividers, and inserts for easier organization. After the launch of its crowdfunding campaign, the RUX met it’s goal within four minutes, before going on to receive nearly 2,000% more than its original goal. Expected to ship in June of 2021, the RUX is available now for as little as $196 via an early bird special.
