Ever since Run DMC’s iconic 1986 release “My Adidas,” the Adidas Superstar has been ubiquitous throughout pop culture. For though it was once little more than a localized trend, today it’s something of an international phenomenon, with applications in everything from sportswear to skate culture. In celebration of the Queens-based rap group and the Superstar’s 50th anniversary, Adidas is releasing a special set of commemorative sneakers along with some sweet retro-inspired threads.
Headlining the collection are two pairs of Adidas Superstar 50s in white and black as well as black and white colorways. On the former, you’ll find red accent markings located on the tongue, upper, and heel tab, along with some Run DMC-inspired branding. On the latter, Adidas elected to honor the late Jam Master Jay by including his portrait front and center on the tongue. Both sneaker styles ship with an extra set of “fat” laces and an exclusive custom box. And when it comes to the apparel aspects of the collaboration, Adidas looked to its originals line for inspiration. As well as a satin varsity jacket and a “Kings From Queens” crewneck, there are two heavyweight fleece hoodies and three graphic t-shirts. Available November 14th from $35.
