From its humble beginnings as a repair shop in Pfaffenhausen, RUF Automobile has turned into one of the world’s most elite vehicle marques. And the brand’s illustrious history is now being told in a half-hour documentary dubbed RUF: Love at the Red Line.
Told by RUF’s employees, customers, automotive historians, and other key figures tied to the German outfit, this new motoring documentary delves into the origins of the company, its meteoric rise to fame, and its immense passion for motorsport. Interviews with the individuals who build RUF’s cars also shine a light on what goes into producing these elite machines and what makes them so special. The entire time the story is being told, the film splices in footage and information about RUF’s now-legendary Faszination video: a glorious 19-minute VHS-era viral video of German race car driver, Stefan Roser drifting RUF’s 500hp 911-based CTR “Yellowbird” around the Nürburgring. The film also explores other watershed moments in RUF’s history, such as its initial happenstance introduction to the Porsche community and the game-changing appearance of the 211mph RUF Twin-Turbo in Road & Track’s 1987 Supercar Shootout. RUF: Love at the Red Line is available to view now in its entirety on YouTube.
