Something can be said for the relentless pursuit of purity, nostalgia, and art. Something even greater can be said for the pursuit, and application, of all three. While it might seem a bit abstract, J&D Custom Co’s Jay D. Patel has found a way to harness these traits for use in his most recent build — a maculate Royal Enfield Electra 350 that harkens back to the era of hand-built prominence.
Maculate is, in fact, the perfect way to describe this beauteous bike, and something that Patel has embraced wholeheartedly. Forgoing the helpful integration of computer modeling and design programs, Jay’s imperfect approach serves as a stark reminder that passionate labor, and labor of love, can sometimes result in something even more meaningful. Over the past five years, his adoration of the era of small garages has served as an inspiration, expressing his procedural efficacy with this full-frame custom build. After crafting the entire skeleton of the bike from seamless 304 stainless steel tubing, Jay implemented a handful of other bespoke parts, including a split fuel cell that serves as both tank, and electrical hideout, dual rear pipes grafted to the bike’s rear, and an inverted clutch cable setup the exudes an aura of elegance. A perimeter disc brake — believed to be the only one of its kind in India — adds to the bike’s signature persona.
