The outlandish world of luxury superyachts is full of extravagant ventures, but when two of the industry’s biggest names come together for a project of ineffable magnitude, the waters calm. Thanks to its recent reveal at 2019’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Rossinavi and Pininfarina’s Super Sport 65 has certainly become the talk of the town — murmurs centered almost exclusively around its proclivity to usurp the genre’s most lauded ships.
In an attempt to bring the gravitas of the Super Sport 65 to light, Rossinavi’s 215-foot venture has been crafted similarly to that of the coachbuilder’s Fittipaldi Vision Gran Turismo, a carbon-imbued automotive platform that boasts sleek linework, careful, and concise symmetry, and a unique silhouette that promotes aerodynamic supremacy. To keep things as light as possible, both Pininfarina and Rossinavi have opted to create the superyacht almost entirely from aluminum, and have gifted the boat with four 12-cylinder Rolls-Royce engines to propel it through the water. While each of these powerplants produces a staggering 1,500 horsepower, the focus of the yacht dwells in its exclusivity; a luxurious pair of spacious jacuzzi tubs, a collection of sofas, and multitudinous wooden accents give the Super Sport a decidedly lavish appearance, while Pininfarina’s supercar-inspired design cues reign throughout.
