Robert Downey Jr.’s Ford Mustang Boss 302
Like this revamped Mustang, Robert Downey Jr. was once a rip-roaring, speed machine himself, until it landed him out of Hollywood. A mid-career Renaissance delivered him back to his former glory. The same could be said of his custom Mustang 302 Boss, which was custom-restored – with input from RDJ – by SpeedKore Performance Group.
Like his most famous character, Tony Stark, RDJ has a penchant for fast, classic cars. His latest edition, a customized Mustang 302 Boss might be the crown jewel of his already well-decorated garage. Like Stark’s replacement heart, the muscle car received an engine upgrade, replacing the stock 302-cubic-inch V-8 (an already powerful engine), 5.0-liter V-8 with a twin-screw supercharger, upping the output to 667 horsepower. Built with a modern aluminum frame as strong as Iron Man’s armor, the car sits low to the ground. SpeedKore distinguishes itself from other custom car shops by its passion for lightweight carbon fiber. The Boss’s hood, fenders, bumpers, deck lid, chin spoiler, and quarter extensions all are built from the uber-light material, so this Mustang horsepower is unbridled. In beautiful Tuscany yellow, this collaborative creative effort between Downey Jr. and SpeedKore gives a classic newfound glory.
