The xDrill Is A Touchscreen Smart Power Tool With A Bevy Of Modern Tech

Most products evolve over time by slowly building on existing designs, improving individual aspects here and there in a manner that’s far more evolutionary than revolutionary. When upstart Robbox Inc. recently set out to deliver a power drill for the modern age, the fledging firm threw out the existing playbook and opted to engineer a new smart drill entirely from the ground up, resulting in the xDrill.

Imagined as the ultimate contemporary power tool, the xDrill features an LCD touchscreen that can be used to control its digital leveling, distance measurement, depth control, custom angle leveling, toggle through different settings for drilling into different materials, or to utilize the drill’s 180-degree rotating handle and bottom-mounted lasers. There’s also a Smart Speed Torque control which prevents screws from being stripped, and a 21V battery allows for a full three hours of use and can receive a full recharge in just 45 minutes. The xDrill also pairs with a smartphone app that allows it to save recorded measurements, or track the drill — which can be remotely disabled — via GPS should it get swiped. The Robbox Inc. xDrill Digital Smart Drill is available on the company’s Kickstarter campaign from as low as $303.
