Rimowa is one of the biggest names in luxury luggage. Their products are an amalgam of high design and utility, producing bags with rugged exteriors and roomy, expertly structured interiors, often with smart capabilities. Now, Rinowa has teamed up with Off-White to create a limited edition bag based on a radical new concept – transparency.
This year marks Rimowa’s 120th anniversary, and for them, it has been a year of collabs. Following the rousing success of their crossover with Supreme – which sold out in its first 16 seconds – Rimowa has teamed up with Off-White designer Virgil Abloh to create the world’s first transparent suitcase. The polycarbonate carry-on case conceals nothing with its see through shell (though black clothing bags accompany the suitcase to keep your wardrobe and toiletries shrouded in mystery, from all but the TSA). Black-accented handles and wheels bring some structure to the madness, but this experimental suitcase is predicated on turning the typical on its head. The transparent bag goes on sale June 25th, in select RIMOWA & Off-White Stores, and Rinowa.com (Europe). If the hype is anything like the Supreme collab, this will likely be another case of “now you see it, now you don’t.”
