Modernica’s Case Study Shell Chairs have become the trendy Los Angeles-based furniture brand’s signature offering. Made from fiberglass just like the original Charles and Ray Eames-designed shell chairs of the mid-century, one could argue that Modernica’s L.A.-made seats are the “reigning champ” of timeless furniture styles — especially now that the brand has collaborated with athletic streetwear label Reigning Champ on a shell chair capsule collection.
The Reigning Champ x Modernica line offers the Side Shell Chair and Arm Shell Rocker in all-white colorways that were inspired by Reigning Champ’s signature monochromatic Spalding basketballs. Notably, the chairs also mark the first time any Modernica chair collaboration has been upholstered in 100% full-grain aniline leather, adding a heightened sense of luxury to the pieces. Rounding out the trio of products in the collection is a co-branded all-white stadium blanket crafted from Reigning Champ’s signature Midweight Terry. All three items are available now from Reigning Champ’s website, with the blanket priced at $105, the Side Shell Chair at $900, and the Arm Shell Rocker going for $1,200.
