Reigning Champ is known far-and-wide for its immersion in the athletic space, developing some of the community’s favorite wear for technical running, training, and gym-oriented clothing. So when we heard that they were joining forces with the iconic footwear provider, ASICS, for a futuristic collection revolving around Japan’s former capital, we knew that we wouldn’t be disappointed.
The two companies have come together for an ongoing series of collaborative endeavors that draw inspiration from Kyoto, Vancouver, Paris and, finally, Tokyo. Their preliminary collection — labeled the Kyoto Edition — is a culmination of the brands’ favorite outerwear and athleisure examples, including a sleek black tracksuit and breathable dip-dyed jacket (both with anatomical seams), monochromatic socks, shorts, and leggings, and a selection of subtle t-shirts. Two of ASICS most prolific platforms have received a rework as well, reimagining the GEL-Kayano 5 OG and GEL-Kayano 25 with an all-new tonal beige upper, suede, grain leather textiles, and breathable mesh to keep things airy while training. The Kyoto Edition will be available via Reigning Champ and ASICS’ respective websites on June 15.
