Reigning Champ Cassius Clay Collection
On February 25, 1964 Muhammad Ali – then Cassius Clay – made history, by knocking out Sonny Liston to become the heavyweight boxing world champion. It was on this day that the legendary boxer announced “I am the greatest!” a proclamation that still holds true. The historic fight was captured in Neil Leifer’s iconic photo, showing Ali/Clay glowering over a stunned Liston. Now, Reigning Champ’s latest collection commemorates the moment in an awesome way that is a must-have for any boxing fan.
The fight was billed as a battle of disparate titans. The champion – Liston, a lumbering, powerful puncher. The challenger – Clay, lightning quick, unbelievably agile. The latter proved the more irresistible force, as Ali knocked out Liston and announced his presence in the boxing world. The clothing line showcases the narrative of the fight – “Speed vs. Power,” and several other items have the date, 2/25/64, emblazoned on them. One minute, 44 seconds was all it took for speed to win out. Buyers had better hope this collection lasts a little longer.
