REI Releases Its First-Ever Line Of Hiking Boots With The Traverse & Flash

REI Co-op has been one of the most trusted names in outdoor gear forever, and now the retailer is furthering its connection to the great outdoors through the release of its first-ever line of hiking boots.

The new REI Co-op line of hiking boots comes in two styles: Traverse and Flash. The more-supportive Traverse is built to stand up on long-haul backpacking trips, while the lightweight Flash is intended for use on quicker hikes. Both boots feature a load of new tech that’s exclusive to REI, including socklike FirmaKnit uppers, HydroWall breathable waterproof protection, TerraGrip rubber outsoles with specially-designed climbing and braking lugs for ascent and descent, TerraLoft midsoles featuring algae-based BLOOM foam for runner-like cushioning, and TrailBed insoles with podiatrist-developed Insite Contoura technology for proper support. The boots make extensive use of recycled materials, naturally, and they also underwent over 2,000 hours and 700 miles of field testing. Both the Traverse and Flash are available in three colors for men and women, and you can purchase them now from REI.
