These LED-Equipped Pedals Offer 57% More Visibility Than Clip-On Bike Lights

On-the-bike safety starts with being seen, and there’s no better way to do so than by fitting your ride with a set of bright lights. Even then, however, you’re still betting on drivers’ awareness, as it ultimately falls on them to recognize your blinkers for what they are.

Bearing this in mind, Redshift Sports has created a set of LED-equipped pedals called the ‘Arclight.’ Capable of improving your visibility by as much as 57%, they create 360 degrees of illumination merely through the act of riding. And here’s the thing: for such a simple concept, they’re incredibly high-tech in execution, built with sensors for automatic shut-offs, orientation-based color changes, and even multiple light modes. What’s more, Redshift has designed the modules themselves to be removable, allowing for hassle-free charging, as well as frame- and helmet-mounting with a handy magnetic locking attachment. Offering up to 36 hours of run-time on a 2-hour USB charge, the aluminum-bodied pedals are compatible with all standard 9/16″ threads. You can back the campaign on Kickstarter now starting at $29.
