Razer Project Ariana

There were a lot of really cool things to come out of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. But few of them, if any, were as cool as the things that Razer brought with them. In fact, their Project Ariana won two pretty prestigious “Best of” awards at the event: Best Gaming Product and People’s Choice. And once you know what the gadget is all about, it’s easy to see why.

A testament to the brand’s creativity, Project Ariana is a full-room gaming immersion device. Although that sounds a bit strange, the concept is both remarkably simple and brilliant. It’s a projector that hooks up to your PC and extends your gaming field-of-view beyond the confines of your computer display. Just link up the device to your existing PC gaming setup, activate the Intelligent Room Calibration – dual 3D cameras which detect the room’s size, shape, and any obstacles (like furniture) – and boot up your favorite game. It doesn’t just project a larger version of the game onto your walls, however. The Razer Chroma powered device communicates with your games in real-time and uses a combination of peripherals, smart lighting, and even video projection to seamlessly bridge the gap between the gaming world and the real one. There’s no word yet on price, but Project Ariana will hits market later this year. [Purchase]
