Ever since production of the Defender was brought to a halt back in 2016, aftermarket customizers haven’t been able to get enough of the thing. But for all the attention that the iconic off-roader receives, it’s worth noting that Land Rover has plenty of other models just ripe for the picking — like the Range Rover Classic.
The SUV pictured here, which was built by British Land Rover restoration specialist Chieftain, may look like a retro ride at first glance, but dig a little deeper and you’ll find that it’s an entirely different animal. For starters, it’s based around one of Chieftain’s bespoke chassis designs, an addition that guarantees both improved ride quality as well as better handling. And that’s not all — it’s also been treated to a four-wheel fully-independent suspension setup as well as some upgraded AP Racing brakes. Good thing too, considering that the combination will be responsible for keeping a 700hp GM-sourced 6.2L supercharged LS3 V8 in check. Add to that some six-spoke wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, a grille-mounted LED light bar, and a set of side-exit exhaust and the result is nothing short of astonishing.
