For the past decade, Polo Ralph Lauren has been the go-to designer for creating the U.S. Olympic Team’s opening ceremony uniforms. Now, in the lead-up to the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the brand has unveiled their limited edition Heated Olympic Jacket.
Along with featuring a waterproof exterior and 750-fill-power down insulation, the jacket boasts an American-flag on the interior that is printed with a special conductive carbon and silver ink. This back panel heats the wearer at three different modes and can run continuously for up to 11 hours when the slim battery pack is fully charged. This means that while the athletes are taking part in the lengthy and cold Parade of Nations (there will be 93 of them this year), they won’t get too chilled. A limited number of these jackets will be made available at Polo Ralph Lauren’s Prince Street store in New York City on the opening day. No word as of yet on pricing – but you can expect the dollar figure to be closer to gold than bronze.
