There are plenty of well-established knife companies that offer wildly-capable EDC blades that are crafted from high-end materials and sold at an affordable price that doesn’t include a premium for the brand name. And one of the better and lesser-known companies that fall under this umbrella is QSP, a Chinese outfit that’s been in operation since 2017.

Headquartered out of China’s Guangdong province, QSP — which stands for “ Quality, Service, Price” — prides itself on its craftsmanship and quality control, individually inspecting each knife by hand before it leaves the factory. The brand’s Penguin knife wonderfully demonstrates QSP’s MO of delivering a quality, premium knife at an accessible price point. Created through a cutting-edge amalgamation of water jetting, vacuum heat treatment, computerized CNC machining, and CNC grinding, this Pengiun variant features a “Fragtanium” pattern set of titanium scales adorning a stainless steel chassis with a titanium framelock.

Mated to the handle is a 3.125” sheepsfoot blade that’s made from 154CM blade steel before being treated to a black stone-washed finish to match the titanium handles and tip-up, deep-carry pocket clip. The sheepsfoot blade is also deployed using a dual thumb-stud setup and smoothly guided by a set of copper washers. A lanyard hole at the base of the handles completes this thoroughly capable yet accessibly-priced package.

Available now, this “Fragtanium” version of the QSP Penguin — model number QS130-OFRG — is priced at $110 at BladeHQ, though the company also produces a plethora of additional Pengiun variants ranging in construction, lock-type, and finish.

Purchase: $110
