Having turned Bourbon Pursuits into the pride podcast of the whiskey world, Ryan Cecil and Kenny Coleman took their knowledge and founded Pursuit Spirits back in 2018. Since that time, the pair have kept up a regular release of single-barrel offerings, each with a backstory befitting a feature on the show. However, it’s the latest Pursuit Spirits product that looks to be the most special one yet.
Born out of the collaboration between three different distilleries across three different states, the final blend is called Pursuit United. Clocking in at 108 proof (54% ABV), it incorporates an assortment of mash bills with barrels aged anywhere from 4 to 5 years old. For instance, one component comes from the Bardstown Bourbon Company located in Kentucky, and it contributes rich notes of caramel and apple. Still another comes from New York courtesy of Finger Lakes Distilling. Based on an award-winning wheat mash bill, it’s much fruitier compared to its southern counterpart, contributing lots of citrus flavors. And while the exact source of the third and final element has yet to be disclosed, it makes for a finish full of sweet oak and spicy orange marmalade. Limited to just 2,250 bottles, you can pick up Pursuit United for $65.
