Pure Copper Cocktail Shaker

Your history lesson for the day: Copper has been in use for at least 10,000 years. And yet somehow, amazingly, this is the first cocktail shaker we’ve seen to fully embrace the ancient chemical element. Of course it’s also possible we may have had our heads too far in our martini glasses to notice any others.

The Pure Copper & Stainless Steel Cocktail Shaker is handmade in the US by a copper manufacturer founded in 1819. Each one holds 14 fluid ounces and is lined with stainless steel to keep acid corrosion and rust at bay. Copper not only looks classy, but it also removes the unpleasant tasting sulfur-based compounds from alcohol. The makers say a naturally occurring patina will develop, but if you hand wash it with warm soap and water and keep it out of the dishwasher, this cocktail shaker could easily become a family heirloom.
