Founded by Kichizo Yoshida in 1935, Yoshida & Co., Ltd. is a Japanese-based manufacturer best known for its luggage subbrand “Porter”. With its low-key styling and its frequent fashion collaborations, Porter has proven immensely popular since the 1980s, an era that also saw the birth of the venerable G-Shock 5600.
In celebration of its 85th anniversary, Porter is partnering with Casio to release a limited edition G-Shock GM-5600. And while the internals are the same, it’s been treated to a host of exterior updates as well as an assortment of different strap options. For starters, it ditches the stock resin cover in favor of a stainless steel unit. Set against a dial that features exclusive orange Porter detailing, it gives the watch a subtle but handsome update. On the case-back, the 5600 has been engraved with a Porter logo, as well as the years “1935” and “2020” to commemorate the brand’s founding and anniversary. And when it comes to the kit, Porter is including a khaki nato strap, a black resin band, as well as a wristband made from its “Tanker” luggage series. In other words, there are options aplenty. It will go on sale on December 18th for $381.
