A washing machine may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to luxury design, but the newest offering from Studio F.A. Porsche and Panasonic is sure to change your view on household chores. In an effort to bring high-quality components and purist design to the Chinese appliance market, the dynamic duo is teaming up to produce the new ALPHA washing machine.

The washer will focus on consumers’ increasing demand for functional, high quality, and innovative design by utilizing a brushed stainless steel body produced via injection moulding — plus, an attractive TFT touchscreen display that mimics Porsche Design’s take on internal vehicle instrumentation. To solve the traditional problem of mold buildup and unpleasant smells, the design team implemented a loading opening that automatically separates when the cycle is complete, allowing for natural airflow throughout the appliance.
