Porsche’s Iconic Swappable-Lens ’70s Aviator Glasses Get A Titanium Update

Be it cars or high-performance sports cars or high fashion and accessories, Porsche has been blessing the world with its iconic designs for the better part of a century. Among its many legendary designs is the Stuttgart brand’s P’8478 sunglasses, a premium pair of aviators first released in 1978 and reportedly the world’s first glasses with interchangeable lenses. And after celebrating the P’8478’s 40th anniversary with a limited, 1,978 unit run of special edition P’8478s, Porsche Design has now unveiled the latest iteration of glasses with the all-new P’ 8928 model sunglasses.

Constructed around a lightweight yet hardwearing, Japanese-made titanium frame, the P’ 8928 features a more modern take on the late ‘70s aviators with a more squared aesthetic design. In addition to being offered in four different frame color options, the P’ 8928’s highly-impact resistant polycarbonate UV400, anti-glare lenses boast a quick-release mechanism allowing for effortless lens swapping. What’s more, each of the four color options—dark gun; gold; palladium; and black gold—are produced in two different sizes and are sold with two different lens colors. Available now, the Porsche Design P´8928 Aviator Sunglasses are priced at $550.
