Pole Pass Retreat in Washington
Few places are as beautiful as the Pacific Northwest, and even fewer are more amazing than the San Juan Islands. Olson Kundig Architects have chosen the Washington-based islands as the location for their latest project, the Pole Pass Retreat.
The residence was designed by renowned architect Tom Kundig, blending into its woodsy surroundings through its horizontal proportions. The home was built to be extremely flexible, being used in all four seasons of the year. This means that during the warmer months, residents can use the walk-along hand wheel (meaning you simply walk to turn it) in order to open up the pavilion window walls, creating the ultimate indoor/outdoor living space. And let’s not forget those stunning views – nothing but blue and green for miles.
