For literal generations, Polartec has been working with U.S. military agencies to craft some of the most innovative fabrics for use out in the field. Now, they’re paring that tradition into a collection of mil-spec layering garments all made in the USA with their Military Issue Collection.
The direct retail source for the military’s E.C.W.C.S. apparel — short for Extended Cold Weather Clothing System — the collection is comprised of three levels of coverage. The first includes the Level 1 Silkweight Shirt and Pants — offering exceptional moisture management, comfort, durability, and packability. The second includes the Level II Grid Knit Shirt and Pants — utilizing the brand’s legendary Power Grid bi-component knit proprietary “waffle” fabric for breathability, moisture management, and comfort. And then there’s the Level III High Loft Jacket — combining the warmth of fleece with the comfort of the brand’s waffle grid tech. Finally, the whole collection is rounded out with a fleece beanie — but the brand is suggesting that more pieces will be available soon. Pricing starts at $15.
