The Tenkara Rod Co. is already well-known for its high quality and fair-priced fishing rods, so when we were told about their newest rod, the Mini Sawtooth, we understandably had high expectations. After seeing this rod in its crowdfunding campaign, it’s clear that this new rod meets and exceeds what we were expecting it to be.

Not only does it fold up to less than 10 inches long, but it also weighs just 1.1 ounces, making it an essential addition to your hiking backpack. It extends to a full nine-feet in seconds, thanks to its telescope design. The new rod works well for small to medium-sized fish, which are what you’d typically find in small streams or ponds. It’s available right now on Kickstarter for an early backer price of $150, with a 12-inch version costing $165. [Purchase]
