Day or night, rain or shine (honestly any time you’re out on a bike) it’s in your best interest to wear some kind of lighting, because these days, drivers are more distracted than ever. However, we’ve all experienced the feeling of having showed up to a ride only to find out that our batteries are dead.
But with the announcement of the LED-equipped Omne Eternal helmet, Swiss-based protective specialist POC is looking to put an end to our lighting woes forever. That’s because it features Powerfoyle, a low-profile solar panel technology that can be charged from both indoor and outdoor light sources. So, whether you’re riding on a sunny day or leaving it under a lamp at home, it’ll always be charged and ready to go. What’s more, the Omne Eternal sports a set of internal sensors that’ll automatically detect when the helmet is being worn, automatically switching on the rear LED in order to keep you seen. And when you consider that it also makes use of POC’s SPIN rotational safety technology, this is one offering that makes for a seriously next-level lid. It’ll be available this June for $300.
