Only 39 of Ferrari’s 250 GTOs were ever made – and there are only 38 surviving examples (36 in the hands of the public), as one was scrapped by the makers themselves. It’s also the case that it’s the world’s most expensive car, as one sold for a record-breaking $38.1 million at auction, though others have been said to go privately for more. To pay homage to the 250 GTO, tire brand Pirelli has just unveiled their Stelvio Corsa tire, designed exclusively for use on that very car.
Engineers at Pirelli spent countless hours poring over historical photographs to make sure they got the styling and period-correctness just right, while still incorporating modern technology into the construction of these tires. And they’re so serious about the exclusivity of them that they won’t even be offered to anyone other than owners of a 250 GTO. There’s no word on price, but, if you own one of the ultra-expensive Prancing Ponies destined for a set, we imagine you’ll be able to afford it.
