Electric powertrains have permeated just about every vehicle segment on the planet, from cars and SUVs to big rigs and busses to motorcycles and last-mile vehicles. And with their lack of noise and unparalleled amount of torque, EV powertrains also happen to lend themselves particularly well to the off-roading sector. And the latest outfit to capitalize on EV’s conduciveness to off-roading is Pickman with its new fully electric mini truck.

These battery-powered 4x4s are offered in a two-door XR version and a four-door 4XR variant, both of which boast a three-ton towing capacity a one-ton payload, and dual motors that allow for a 50mph top speed. The vehicles are also sold with a trio of Lithium battery options in the form of a 7.3kWh LTE trim, a 14.8kWh BSE version, and a 21.6kWh EXT-spec that offer 50, 90, and 130 mile ranges respectively. Both the XR and 4XR also boast three gear modes and can switch from 4WD low speed to 4WD high speed to 2WD top speed. The interior sports a variety of surprisingly modern and high-end features such as power locks, windows, and steering, LCD instrumentation, a carbon trim package, 3 point harnesses, heating and cooling, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, and an LCD infotainment center with a backup camera and Bluetooth connectivity. Sold in 17 different color options, the exterior of the vehicle comes loaded with a host of off-road upgrades all as standard, such as 15″ wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, skid plates and custom steel bumpers front and aft, flared fender extensions all LED lighting, and a roof rack and bed with rack-mounted LED spotlights. Currently launching through a campaign on Indiegogo, the Pickman XR and 4XR are scheduled to ship out in December of 2021, with pricing starting from $17,000 and $18,000, respectively.
