As a company in its infancy, Union Motion is hoping their expertise in the field of electric powertrains will enable them to ride the current wave of alternative transportation to success. They were founded last year in 2015, and specialize in building electric motorcycles that fit right in with their older petrol-powered ancestors. Their most recent build, this Phaser Type 1 built off the chassis of a Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer, looks to support the goals within this design house.
Receiving the original Fazer 600 as just a rolling chassis, with the frame, forks, swingers and wheels, Union Motion settled on a more traditional location for the battery and drivetrain layout in the conventional motor location. The battery itself is a 6 kWh battery pack pushing out a peak power of 64 hp, a top speed of 110mph, and a range of 60 miles on a full charge. The bodywork for the Phaser comes from CNC machined milled sheet aluminum as well. Naturally, the tank was reduced just enough to retain the bike’s original look and feel while maintaining a minimalist appearance. Union Motion also outfitted the electric bike with an Akira-inspired disc wheel in the rear, a halo running head light, and their very own programmable instrument that replaces the stock dashboard. No word on exact pricing though we’re fairly certain this one’s already been reserved. However, Union Motion is always taking requests for custom orders so be sure to drop them a line if interested.
